What Kind of Artist?...

Always since the beginning I was asked what kind of man I wanted to be. What kind of artist I wanted to be was always my question. From a kid to growing into manhood I always had an interest in the arts. The job or career I saw was never that of the other kids in my class. I wanted to be the person in the cap painters wore. Going to open mics with the congas , to help the audience follow the beat to my poetry (super stereotypical lol). I wanted to be an artist!
I grew up with my mother who was well rounded in the arts as well. Being a well known singer around the twin cities, and a jewelry guru in the DMV (DC, MD, VA) area where I ended up growing up. Even with all of that though my mother never really encouraged my brothers and I to pursue those things. I think that she was let down so many times herself in her career decisions. That she figured anything outside of that for us was more like protection from this world and their criticism. Naturally though (of course) I was drawn to what we knew....... THE ARTS.

In school I felt that we were forced to pick a path, like we couldn't choose to really focus on all of the arts but instead took what we had to for a quick credit. To choose ONE option you pleased, or took interest. Never to learn everything that may be of interest to oneself. I figured that the desire to draw a scene, shoot a moment, or even vocalize ones emotion could be done without a limit on which one you had to do. Also as a black man in America without having anything to do with the foolishness around me. I decided to make that a way to fight the frustrations of political inequalities.
I studied every art of interest taking from all of the artists that I loved, and molding that into something of my own. Overtime I developed my own style, created my own voice, and synchronized my art to create what I will be showing you. Mixing styles of abstract, exotic, erotic, and even political influence. Hopefully overtime this art is what my name will be known for...... The Renaissance.
